Aesthetic medicine is a rapidly developing industry that offers various methods to correct a person’s external appearance, with injection cosmetology playing a key role. The active growth of this market is being driven by the growing public demand for ‘beauty injections’ each year and the fact that Russia has a clear regulatory framework governing the aesthetic medicine industry. The number of clinics and skilled professionals that provide cosmetology services is on the rise. New drugs and innovative techniques are appearing on the market. However, regulating and improving these development processes along with monitoring the safety and effectiveness as well as the import and distribution of injectable drugs and consumables remains a crucial task for the government in order to protect citizens and further develop the industry. While imports are undergoing changes and foreign injectable cosmetics that are already familiar and proven among consumers are being replaced by lesser-known drugs from new supplying countries, there are a sufficient number of effective and safe domestic analogues on the market that have prospects to fill this vacated niche. How can we combine the availability, quality, and effectiveness of cosmetic injection drugs produced domestically and abroad in this changing market? What measures are currently in place to fundamentally transform the aesthetic medicine and injection cosmetology industry? What domestic developments and existing drugs for aesthetic injection medicine have the greatest potential for use in Russia and abroad?
